Poems From The Porch
Lavender wildflowers withdraw in the afternoon.
It is in the morning that they offer themselves fully,
rain or shine.
This rhythm is how they show up in the world,
and it needs no excuse.
There is no value judgment on their behavior,
nothing to pardon.
They are just doing what lavender wildflowers do.
I think I’ll stop apologizing
for being myself.
