Morning Medicine
It is quiet and peaceful on this powder pink morning,
a warm cup of coffee comforting my hand.
The sunlight is caressing the tops of the trees
as the happy rooster calls out his greeting.
Freely given fire gifts
of woodsy aroma,
soothing heat,
crackle, and flame
are offering their magic.
The morning medicine of the porch
is enlivening,
not intoxicating,
because it offers
clarity and healing.
Open, receptive,
fertile, and silent,
the ever-present
Witness and Participant,
I Am.
