My Neighbor, Myself

Morning sounds envelop me:

rooster crowing

unseen birds chirping

crows cawing

hummingbird buzzing

kitty purring

my own heartbeat joining the rhythm of life

Morning scents enchant me:

a smoky signature lingering from last night’s campfire

incense emitting its fragrance as wisps floating toward the infinite blue sky

Morning verses inspire me:

"They live in wisdom who see themselves in all and all in them,”

proclaims the Bhagavad Gita.

“Christ is all and is in all,”

states the book of Colossians.

“Love your neighbor AS yourself,”

invites Jesus.

Important to note that he did not suggest that we love our neighbors

as we LOVE ourselves

—a worthy idea, yet a common misconception that obscures the reality of UNITY.
