Poems From The Porch
Blessings All Your Own
I offer thanks . . .
for the music of the chimes.
for the cawing of the crows.
for the rustling of the wind in the trees.
for the song of the bird serenading me.
for the clarity of the vast Autumn sky.
for the coolness offered by the breeze.
for the warmth of the cat on my lap.
for the deliciousness of the coffee in my cup.
for the support of the rocker beneath me.
for the shelter of this porch.
for the ability to read and write.
for the opportunity to companion people today.
for the senses afforded me by my body home.
for the love in the hug I received this morning.
for the tenderness of the Great Lover of us all
Who provided this experience for me today.
And I offer thanks for you, dear reader,
for reading this poem
and remembering the blessings that
are all your own.
