Poems From The Porch
The field is glowing purple and yellow this morning.
Distant thunder punctuates the dove’s gentle coo.
A young duck just disappeared into the water oak
and emerged again to land on a pine branch.
There is a stillness in the air that belies the coming storm,
and a calm in my spirit that welcomes it all.
