Poems From The Porch
It is a sunny, spring morning,
happy cat warming in the early rays,
flirtatious flowers swaying with the kiss of the wind.
It is a day remembered from ancient history,
an example of surrender celebrated.
When self-cherishing dies,
unconditional love is made manifest.
A man memorialized today who went away by himself to pray,
intentional introspection produces wisdom.
A humble servant remembered annually,
kindness to others facilitates healing.
Serene in this moment and grateful,
I rock in my chair, a woodpecker pecks, and a dove coos.
The crow of the rooster is carried on the crisp, blue-sky breeze.
It is, indeed, a good Friday.
