Grace Upon Grace

Poems From The Porch

My lap is a habitat for cats,

one after another hopping up to say, “Good morning,”

offering a purr and a kitty smile,

receiving affection from my hand that isn’t holding the pen.

Now the sunlight is illuminating the damp greenness spread before me,

and off in the distance, the yellow wildflowers are awaiting the luscious rays.

Yum! Life is so delicious this morning,

sweet taste in my mouth,

a glad melody in my heart,

a feast for the senses,

grace upon grace.

And what can I offer in exchange for such lavish offerings?

I think the gift of appreciation will do,

and love,

unfettered, unrestrained, and unleashed;

love for it all.
