Poems From The Porch

The rain is dancing on the tin roof this morning,
at once the gentle presence of white noise,
now the heavy landing of water in a free fall.
I’m taking a dive today, too,
unencumbered like the rain,
but I am not going head-first.
Instead, I’m leading with an open heart and embodied presence,
the well-spring of Life baptizing clear my mind.
Here I am fully immersed in the wonder of all that is,
and my place in it,
considering what gifts I want to offer today,
and hospitable to the gifts I will receive.
