~a love note from your Inner Wisdom

Dear One,
I am writing to remind you of things you already know. You set yourself up for failure when you seek security through knowledge acquisition, preparation, and planning; when you look to others for esteem, approval, and validation; and when you try to control circumstances and manage people.
Knowledge acquisition, preparation, and planning are vital skills to utilize when constructing the life you want, but they don’t guarantee security. Life is mysterious and chaotic, and in any moment, you may be faced with the unexpected, despite all your best efforts.
Esteem, approval, and validation are essential social responses, but people don’t always have these gifts to offer, especially when they are self-absorbed, emotionally triggered, and living within a paradigm that differs from your worldview.
A sense of control and agency is important as you navigate the world, but the reality is that you are powerless to manage events and the emotional reactions of others. These events and reactions are not personal. Random things happen, and people react from the inside out, not the outside in.
So where does your security lie?
Security lies in going with the flow of life, knowing that there is a season for everything, and change is a given.
So where does your esteem lie?
Esteem lies in the recognition that you are valid just for being part of this magnificent universe, no more, no less approved and accepted than anyone or anything else.
So where does your control lie?
Control lies in how you respond to the unfolding of life in each moment.
Life is not a problem to solve or a situation to manage. Relax and enjoy the ride without an attachment to outcome or destination. Don’t take yourself too seriously. As many have said before, the joy is in the journey.
Remember, this moment is an opportunity to connect to Love, and therefore, to live into the fullness of who you are.
