I am writing to remind you of things you already know. Self-transcendence is the way to peace. When you are mired in the realm of “What about me?” and trying to force an outcome that will be in your personal “best” interest, you create your own suffering. Peace is not the result of force but of surrender. The battle to protect your pride and uphold your agenda is over when you withdraw from it. What remains is serenity.
Surrendering self-interest is not the same as accepting defeat, but it is about losing. When you give up self-centeredness, you lose the very thing that was blocking your well-being; you lose your self-absorbed ego. Now the agenda that you are serving is beyond yourself—transcends yourself—yet includes yourself because you are part of the great tapestry of life.
When you step out from under the cloud of self-cherishing, a whole new realm opens up. This is the world of simplicity supported by stillness, peace drawn from impersonal power, the mystical in service of the mundane, and demand that is fed by an endless supply.
When you are suffering, a helpful question may be:
What opportunities to serve the greater good am I missing because I am enchanted, like the stepmother in Sleeping Beauty, with my own image?
Your peace and fulfillment are found when you step away from the mirror.
Remember, this moment is an opportunity to connect to Love and so to live into the fullness of who you are.
As always, do what best awakens you to Love,
Your Inner Wisdom
