Dear One

Dear One,

I am writing to remind you of things you already know. Give the grace that you want to receive. There is always more to the story. Consider the following:

Ode to Lil’ Mama

This black cat on my lap,

she’s been through a lot.

She is the sole surviving kitty of my dear friend, Gatito

(more appropriately, Gatita).

One day after I had been away,

I came home and found her muddy and disheveled,

weak and traumatized,

her head now tilted to one side.

My heart ached for her,

so I cleaned and nurtured her,

administered a little tenderness.

It took a while,

but she did grow stronger.

Her life was still hard, though.

She was constantly pursued.

Three litters later, I took away her reproductive rights.

I saw it as a kindness.

Indeed, she filled out after that,

her coat now an ebony gloss,

her manner less anxious.

It has been years since that first experience

that changed her life.

She tentatively jumped up on my lap this morning,

immediately purring,

standing while I stroked her back,

meeting my gaze every once in a while,

naked and vulnerable.

Now she has settled,

relaxed into a comfy position.

Her fear is revealed in her eyes, though,

and she is quick to jump.

If you saw her,

you would notice the head tilt and wonder.

But no,

she wasn’t born like that.

Remember, this moment is an opportunity to connect to Love, and therefore, to live into the fullness of who you are.

As always, do what best awakens you to love,

Your Inner Wisdom
